Easter Newsletter

We are delighted to announce that our email contact system is almost up and running making communications between the Trustees and residents more efficient. If you haven’t yet signed up so are reading this update on the web, FB or WhatsApp please get in touch at admin@romanpark.co.uk and we will send you the necessary link.

Every resident regardless of whether you are an owner occupier / tenant or landlord can sign up to receive information.

We are delighted to welcome Tenderleaf Clinic to Unit 1A and Larisa Bogle has written a piece about the business which you will find at the end of this update. Tenderleaf Clinic will start trading from early April.

We are also conscious that rumours are swirling around regarding the Roman Crown.  You will have seen in our last newsletter that the Roman Crown will cease trading at Easter. They have struggled with footfall and have been unable to make a success of the venture – something we are familiar with – as when run as a private facility it lost money. However, we are in negotiation with another hospitality business but until lease negotiations are finalised, we cannot say more so please do not ask us. Such negotiations by their nature are commercially sensitive but we will update you as soon as we are able. Obviously, this is where our email contact system will prove beneficial as we can get the word out to you immediately. Unfortunately, it does mean the main building will have to be closed for a short period of time.

Regarding the building itself it is showing signs of age. There is an ongoing issue with the roof with one persistent leak continuing. We do need to address this, and our Treasurer is contacting the latest company to provide a quote to organise further works. We also need to replace the door for Snipaholix and have received a quote for this. All of the external woodwork needs attention, and we have asked an electrician to look at all external lighting which is old and costly to run with a view to installing energy efficient lighting further bringing down costs. We are also considering installing a bin containing grit before next winter as we know the paving around the building does get slippery in the colder months.

We are compiling a schedule of works so that we can properly programme these works on a need’s basis.  We all own this facility, and it makes commercial sense to keep it in good order.

Although we are unsure when any new tenant will be able to take up occupation, we are delighted to confirm that the building will act as our polling station on Thursday 7th May. Trustees have kindly offered to open and close the building enabling this for residents. This does mean it must be opened at 6:00am to allow polling staff to set up and not locked up until after they finish estimated to be about 11:00pm. Quite a commitment from the Trustee volunteers!
